41 workers have been trapped in the rubble for 2 weeks… They will try to save them by digging by hand.
Search and rescue efforts for 41 workers who have been trapped for two weeks as a result of a tunnel collapse during road work in the Indian state of Uttarakhand will continue with the manual drilling method after the drilling machine broke down.
According to Hindustan Times, Australian tunnel expert Arnold Dix, who contributed to the search and rescue efforts, spoke to the press about the work. Dix claimed the American-made drilling machine broke down and could not be repaired after hitting a metal beam.
Explaining that other methods will be used to save workers in this context, Dix said that they are currently evaluating all options comprehensively.
YOUR MORAL IS GOOD
State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in his statement that rescue work will continue with manual drilling method from tomorrow after the drilling machine broke down. Dhami claimed that he met the stranded workers and they said their morale was very high and they were in good condition.
On November 12, a portion of the tunnel under construction collapsed during road work in India, delivering oxygen and food through pipes to 41 trapped workers.
Rescue efforts were interrupted on the seventh day due to damage to the drilling rigs, and on November 21, communication was established with the trapped workers. (AA)
