UN Secretary General Guterres leaves Syria
UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq addressed reporters at the daily press conference. Noting that the violence in northeast Syria caused the loss of civilian lives and damaged civilian infrastructure, Haq noted that civilians and infrastructure must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Haq said humanitarian partners on the ground reported the loss of civilian life in Deir ez-Zor increased to 54, including 4 children.
Stating that Guterres called on all parties to restrain themselves to avoid regional tensions, Haq said: “The Secretary-General condemns all violence in Syria and calls on the parties to comply with their obligations under international law.” he said.
CONFLICT IN DEIRIZOR
Clashes that began on August 27 between Arab tribes and the organization under pressure from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization in the province of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria entered its tenth day.
In the rural areas of Haseke and Raqqa provinces and in the Manbij district of Aleppo, operations launched by Arab tribes under pressure from the terrorist organization against the PKK/YPG in Deir ez-Zor continue.
In this context, a total of 33 villages in the rural areas of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Hasakah provinces and Manbiç district of Aleppo were liberated from the PKK/YPG occupation.
The organization uses US-made weapons and military vehicles against Arab tribes.
INVASION OF THE PKK-YPG TERRORIST ORGANIZATION
The entire population of Deir ez-Zor, which the organization occupied under the name of “fighting ISIS” with the support of the US military, is made up of Arabs.
The terrorist organization is forcibly recruiting Arab children in the regions it occupies.
The organization generates revenue by selling the oil obtained by seizing the region’s wells from the Damascus administration through smugglers, despite US sanctions. While the organization uses its income for its own activities, the inhabitants of the region are deprived of local services and support. (AA)
