Scandalous event: They pierced the Great Wall of China
China talks about the damage to the kilometer-long Great Wall it built against different groups in ancient times.
Roadworks in the Shanxi region revealed extensive damage to a section of the century-old wall. Workers were said to have drilled holes in the wall using bulldozers to make a shortcut to make the job easier.
Police announced that two people, one of whom was a woman, have been detained and an investigation has been launched into the incident. The authorities reported that a significant part of the wall was demolished to allow the bulldozer to pass, and the damage was irreversible.

The destroyed part of the wall, once the world’s largest military structure, is a historical monument under state protection.
