He disappeared after the Wagner rebellion… Putin dismissed the famous commander

The Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported that the Commander of the Aerospace Forces, Sergey Surovikin, who also led Russian troops in Ukraine last year, has been fired.

In the news, it was noted that the Chief of Staff of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Viktor Afzalov, was temporarily appointed to replace Surovikin, who commanded Russia’s troops in Ukraine between October and December 2022.

ALLEGED ‘CASE CASE’

In the revolt of the Wagner mercenary group against the Vladimir Putin administration on June 24, Surovikin posted a video calling on Wagner to lay down his arms. In some Russian media reports after the riots, it was claimed that despite Wagner’s call to lay down his arms, an investigation was launched against Surovikin and he was kept under house arrest.

American intelligence wrote that General Surovikin, one of the most important figures in the Russian army, knew in advance of Prigokhin’s plans for rebellion. Speaking to the New York Times, US officials said they were trying to find out if Surovikin had helped plan the rebellion.

Surovikin, who played an important role in the Syrian war earlier and was known as “General Doomsday” with his harsh methods, is known as a name that receives great respect and support in the Russian military. (AGENCIES)
