Decision that will anger Putin: the course of the war may change

Zelenskiy, who met Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the military airbase in the city of Eindhoven, made a statement about the visit on social media.

Expressing that they will hold important meetings with Rutte, Zelenskiy stated that the main agenda is the delivery of F-16s to his country to protect his people from Russian attacks.

Stating that they are getting stronger, Zelenskiy noted that their agenda includes the Global Peace Summit, the peace formula and bringing Russia to justice.

“WE ARE IN CLOSE COOPERATION”

Prime Minister Rutte, in a statement on the social media platform X, formerly called Twitter, regarding the meeting, announced that the Netherlands and Denmark have committed to sending F-16 jets to Ukraine when the necessary conditions are met.

“We work closely with our US and other international partners.” Rutte had this to say about the decision in question:

“NEXT STEP OF SUPPORT”

“This is the next step in our support for Ukraine. It is a long-term move that sends a clear message: we will continue to support Ukraine at all costs, for as long as it takes, in terms of military support, humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts.”

“WE AGREE ON THE NUMBER”

Zelenskiy also shared on X, announcing that he and Rutte have agreed on the number of F-16s to be sent to Ukraine, noting that the plane will be delivered to Ukraine after pilot and engineer training.

Stating that the 42 F-16s in question will be used to keep Russia away from Ukrainian cities and towns, Zelenskiy said: “Today we took another step to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.” saying.

“THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING”

Zelensky thanked the Netherlands for the decision, stating that this was only the “beginning”.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense announced on August 18 that the United States has approved the delivery of F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands to Ukraine.

Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said in a statement: “We welcome the US approval of the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. This allows us to complete the training of Ukrainian pilots.” He stated that they are in contact with their European partners for the next steps.

Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra thanked his US counterpart Antony Blinken for his cooperation, saying: “This step is an important milestone for Ukraine to defend its own people and country.” he had evaluated.

Aiming to supply F-16s to Ukraine, the countries led by the Netherlands and Denmark agreed in May to train Ukrainian pilots for the US-made F-16 fighter jets widely used in NATO. (AA)
