Forbidden nudity, nudists revolted! They stripped down on the island and went into action.
Hundreds of nudists who come here every year reacted to the fact that the Sarakiniko Municipality put up ‘nudity ban’ signs on the beaches of Sarakiniko on the Aegean island of Gavda (Gavdos) for the first time this year.
Nudists protested to the municipality by stripping naked in front of the sign, stating that it is not forbidden to swim naked and integrate with nature on the island, whose nature has not spoiled for thousands of years. The nudists also decided to take the situation to the international platform.
Many nudists, who saw the municipality’s sign on the beach, continued to protest with comments on their social media account: “We came to feel intertwined with nature, free from unnecessary things, and suddenly we found out about this ban.”
After the mayor of Gavdos, Lilian Stefanaki, announced that he would not back down from the municipality’s decision, the nudists removed the banners that had been put up some time ago. Mayor Stefanaki made him plant again.
THEY MADE A GREAT PROTEST ON THE BEACH
Announcing that they would not accept the Mayor’s decision, about 100 nudists protested on the beach this time. The municipality protested with slogans and applause. Dressed tourists also supported the nudists who chanted the slogans “All united, the mayor is alone”, “The naked and the dressed are all together”.
WE HAVE BEEN NAKED FOR TEN YEARS
The nudists said in their statement: “We have been coming to the island for decades to be alone with nature, to purify our bodies of unnecessary things and not to obey any prohibitions. That’s how everyone knows. We will not wear bathing suits, we will not take a step back, ”he said.
The nudists completed their protest by removing the newly erected prohibition signs.
