Horrible accident: Lawnmower ran over sleeping woman
Christine Chavez, 27, lay in the tall grass at Beard Brook Park in Modesto, California, at noon on July 8, as a worker using a John Deere tractor with a riding mower began to cut the grass.
Modesto police said the unidentified employee did not see the sleeping woman “until they noticed a body running across the grass.”
The employee immediately called 911, but Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christine’s family took steps to bring attention to homelessness issues…
“PIECES HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THE MIDDLE”
Family members said what they called a “disrespectful and botched cleanup” added to their grief.
“They left big pieces everywhere, scattered across the grass,” Rosalinda, the victim’s sister, told Fox 40.
Chavez’s father, Christopher, said he was able to save fragments of his daughter’s bones, skull and teeth in the days after her death.
The family believes the careless handling of the remains may have been because the woman was one of thousands of homeless residents of the city.
According to the Modesto Bee, Chavez, who has a 9-year-old daughter, has been homeless for the past three to four years and often sleeps in the park, which was officially purchased by nearby E&J Gallo winery the day before his tragic death.
