A “Joint Strategic Security Dialogue” will be established between Turkey and the United Arab Emirates

During the meeting of Minister Soylu, who is in Abu Dhabi for official contacts, with the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Al Nahyan, the joint efforts of the two countries in the field of security were evaluated.

Within this framework, it was decided to establish OSGD as a result of the development of cooperation between the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries.

Minister Soylu, who visited the Turkish Embassy in Abu Dhabi, said they had a productive meeting with Al Nahyan to strengthen security cooperation, on his assessment of the visit to the UAE and the decision to establish OSGD.

Noting the efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to improve relations between the two countries in all fields, Soylu stated that they assessed what could be done within this framework during the meetings.

Stating that the cooperation between the two countries will be increased with the OSGD mechanism, Soylu said, “With this agreement, an understanding that guarantees the safety of both our citizens in the United Arab Emirates and their citizens in Turkey and tries to follow up to the offense and criminal elements will be assessed together. At the same time, our powers will be shared between us.” he said she.

Stating that this mechanism will also strengthen the fight against cross-border crime, Soylu said, “We try to develop an understanding where we can share both the experiences we have gained so far in many areas, such as smuggling and organized crime, as well as the examples that the two countries can show in the measures to be taken. We already have a security cooperation agreement process going on right now. Hopefully, we will have completed it on one occasion as soon as possible.” gave the information.

Minister Soylu stated that the development of OSGD will be ensured by the cooperation of the Interior Ministries and Police Departments of the two countries, saying, “This is an exemplary mechanism. I believe that this mechanism will be an example for other countries in the region”. he said.

Stating that they visited UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Soylu expressed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s messages of friendship and brotherhood and best wishes for the Day UAE National, which will be held on December 2. They stated that they transmitted it.

Soylu stated that they provided information to Chairman Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan about the SOGD mechanism that was put in place and that he was also satisfied with the deal.
