Buffon, who played for Juventus for 17 seasons and won 11 local cups as well as 10 Serie A championships, transferred to PSG in 2018-19 with a one-year option. The experienced goalkeeper, who made just 17 appearances in the season in which he was crowned Ligue 1 champion, decided to return to Juventus next season. However, the salary he gave up for this act was his biggest regret.

“Leaving was the biggest mistake of my life. I gave up 10 million euros. They told me that Areola would play in the Champions League and I didn’t accept it. In my opinion, let whoever deserves it play. That’s why I went back to Juve. Then I regretted it because Areola was injured and they took Keylor Navas instead”.

“We went to Manchester to play the first leg of the round of 16 with United and we came out victorious. But they knocked us out in the second game. It was the biggest disappointment of my career.”
