Claim of ‘sale at high prices’ to disabled people who want to buy vehicles without SCT
Consumers Union Chairman Mahmut Şahin stated that while they were trying to eliminate the complaint of a disabled person living in Sivas, they reached out to the employee working at the car dealership and found out that the worker was fired after he was He deposited the money into his account.
Stating that the disabled citizen went to a dealership to buy a vehicle without SCT, Şahin said:
“They tell the disabled, ‘there is no vehicle.’ He also knows that it is a vehicle, it is bought and sold. They say: ‘If you accept this price, we will give it to you.’ For example, they give the vehicle that they should give for 450 thousand lira for 600-650 thousand lira. The disabled also accept because they cannot find a vehicle. When you withdraw 650,000 lira, the company says: ‘You are going to deposit 450,000 lira into our account.’
You want the rest to be credited to an employee’s account because his work is illegal. To hide this, he deposits the excess money into the employee’s account, the employee withdraws the money and gives it to his boss. There are two complaints here, both the disabled and those who work at the dealerships. It is as if the hard-working person has embezzled money.”
THE WORKER HAS BEEN FIRED
Stating that they have told the citizen who contacted them that they can recover the overpayment, Şahin continued his words as follows:
“The citizen did not deposit the money in hand, he made a bank transfer. When he asked the company for money, the company fired the worker whose bill was paid, without compensation, giving him the code 46. Similar complaints started coming in from Konya, Ankara and Kayseri. There are also complaints from employees saying ‘money is being deposited on our behalf’.
To protect them, dealerships must be inspected so that the disabled fully benefit from the SCT reduction. If there is an employee who has deposited money into his own account, please contact us. We are with them legally. The Ministry must keep them under control with supervision. You need to provide peace of mind to your employees.
We recommend that disabled people do not give the extra money to dealers. Definitely get them from the bank. They get back the money they overpaid, but only if they can officially prove it.”
Şahin said dealership employees should also receive a receipt after withdrawing money deposited in their bank accounts or sending it to business owners via bank transfer.
110 ILLEGAL PROFITS FROM SALES
Stating that the distributor employee who was fired in Sivas has 110 receipts showing that he gave the money deposited in his account to the owner of the workplace, Şahin stated the following:
“We are talking about a dealer who makes an unfair profit by taking advantage of the 110 SCT rebates. That’s just what a drug dealer does in a city. This is done in many dealers in Turkey. They are the ones who are suffering right now. On the one hand, disabled people have to pay too much, that money is eventually taken from them, but on the other hand, the employees will be accused of embezzlement. If they can’t prove it, they can even be punished.”
Emphasizing that the fired person in Sivas filed a lawsuit to get his compensation, Şahin said, “Actually, there are no compensation complaints here. That person is accused, he was fired with a shameful crime with code 46. He won’t be able to find a job either. For what, for the sake of the distributor’s ambition to make a profit from SCT? The state is losing here, it doesn’t get SCT, but the dealer transfers half of that SCT into his own pocket. Please do an inspection on this issue, so that people do not suffer, ”he said.
Stating that a solution to the non-SCT vehicle problem can be found with a quota, Şahin noted that a certain non-SCT vehicle quota should be given to each dealer. (AA)
