Milk production decreased in September
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the production of milk and dairy products for September 2023.
Consequently, the amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairies increased by 4.6 percent in September compared to the same month last year; In the January-September period it increased by 3.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In September, compared to the same month of the previous year, cow’s cheese production increased by 7.7 percent, whey production increased by 6.5 percent, yogurt production increased by 4 percent and drinking milk production increased by 0.4 percent; Butter production decreased by 8.6 percent.
THE BIGGEST DECREASE IS IN BUTTER
In the January-September period, compared with the same period of the previous year, cow’s cheese production increased by 9.2 percent, whey production increased by 7.1 percent, and yogurt production increased 3.5 percent; Butter production decreased by 11.4 percent and drinking milk production decreased by 1.9 percent.
The amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy enterprises, which was 823,067 tons in the previous month, decreased by 4.5 percent in September and reached 786,213 tons.
The production of drinking milk, which the previous month was 111,497 tons, increased by 11 percent in September and reached 123,742 tons.
