When is the tax-free sale of phones and what are the conditions?

The long-awaited announcement has been made about the one-time tax-free sale of phones and computers that will be offered to university students. The conditions and statements that are expected to be officially shared by the Ministry in the coming days were formulated by President Erdoğan after the Cabinet meeting.

WHEN WILL TAX FREE PHONE START?

Duty-free sales of phones and computers, which will cover students studying in associate and university departments of universities, will include domestically produced brands and are expected to begin this month.

WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF TAX-FREE PHONE?

In his statement after the Cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan announced the details of computer and mobile phone support that will be provided to university students.

* We are implementing the mobile phone and computer support that we promised to formal education university students. We will provide support for devices up to 5,500 lira to our university students for mobile phones and computers whose market selling price does not exceed 9,500 lira.

* We will provide support for 44.4 percent of the market price for mobile phones and 16.7 percent for computers. We define a free monthly quota of 10 GB for 12 months, limited to one line, for our formal education university students. Our young people will be able to use these rights through three mobile network operators of their choice.

* We will provide a Youth Card valid for 1 year to all young people who turn 18, and they will be able to benefit from museums, cinemas and theaters for free or at a discount. We will increase our university students’ access to technology and information. The principles of implementation of both supports will be determined by our ministries.
