Russia’s ICC reaction to Armenia
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reacted to the Armenian Parliament’s approval of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling the decision “wrong.”
Underlining that Armenia is a partner and friend of Russia, Peskov stated that they have a lot in common with the Armenian people and that he has no doubt that this will unite the two peoples forever. Peskov said: “In terms of bilateral relations, Armenia’s accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court is incorrect. “We still believe it was the wrong decision,” he said.
When asked if this decision by Yerevan would mean that Russian President Vladimir Putin would reject his visits to Armenia, Peskov replied: “Of course, we do not want President Putin to one day have to reject his visit to Armenia for any reason.”
In March, the ICC announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova for war crimes, within the scope of its investigation into the crimes committed. in Ukraine. (AA)
