New stage in the negotiation of salary increase for civil servants
In the negotiations of the Public Collective Agreement of the Seventh Duration, where the economic and social rights of public officials and retirees will be determined for the years 2024-2025, a negotiation process began between the government and Memur-Sen.
The process continues, which began on August 1, in collective bargaining, which affects approximately 4 million employees and 2.5 million retired employees.
In the negotiation, which proceeded to classify the offers of 11 service branches in accordance with the determined work schedule, a preliminary discussion of the proposals for the general public was also carried out.
THE NUMBERS WILL BE SPOKEN
With the completion of the classification and preliminary negotiations of all the proposals, the negotiation phase, which is of great importance, has been passed.
In this context, the commission reports of 11 branches of service will be negotiated between the government and the authorized unions until August 12.
Following the end of negotiations, the government is expected to submit the first increase proposal for the general public to Memur-Sen on August 14.
OUR REQUESTS ARE EXTREMELY REASONABLE
Memur-Sen Vice President Hacı Bayram Tonbul said that the pre-negotiation and qualification processes for the service branches were positive and productive.
Stating that Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labor and Social Security, also closely followed the process, Tonbul said:
“We want the positive atmosphere in the process of classification and pre-negotiation of service lines to continue in the negotiating part of the negotiations.
The actual inflation figures, the inflation forecasts revised by the Central Bank and the market situation are all plain to see. Considering this, our demands are quite reasonable.
Therefore, the public employer should come to the table on August 14 with a proposal based on market realities, not inflation targets.
OFFICIAL-SEN REQUESTED QUARTERLY INCREASES
Memur-Sen, which is the authorized confederation at the collective bargaining table, requested an increase of 35% in the first 3 months, 10% in the second 3 months, 15% in the third 3 months and 10% in the fourth 3 months, including social participation, for the quarterly periods of 2024.
By 2025, the Confederation required a 25 percent increase in the first 6 months and a 15 percent increase in the second 6 months, including social participation, for 6-month periods. (AA)
