Pay gap in the public sector
The wage gap in the public sector has reached gigantic proportions.
While the salary of workers who worked in public institutions exceeded that of engineers with whom they worked on the same team, the salary of the general manager, who was the top manager, almost doubled.
For example, while an engineer working at the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ) received a salary of 20,936 lira, the salary of a public worker who maintained power lines at the same institution was 78,076 lira. .
In the same institution, the department head, who is the supervisor of the workers, receives 33,286 liras, the deputy director general 36,793 liras, the general director 45,551 liras, the vice-minister 75,000 liras, and the minister 76,000. lire.
THE SALARY OF EXPERIENCED PERSONNEL INCREASED
The wage gap between workers and civil servants in the public sector widened further with the collective agreements of workers signed shortly before the general elections.
Seeing that the AKP had expanded the state budget to win the elections again, Türk-İş put the electoral trump card to good use, receiving huge increases and additional benefits for more than 700,000 public workers.
Thanks to this contract, the salary of the lowest worker, which was around 11,000 lira, increased to 22,000 lira with extra payments. Steep raises and top-up payments made before the election also boosted wages for experienced workers to record levels.
Affirming that the wage gap between workers and civil servants has increased to extraordinary levels with the new increases, Memur-Sen listed the net salaries that public workers receive based on each institution and transferred them to the corresponding places.
Memur-Sen, who also arranged the salaries of the civil servants in a separate list, demanded that the difference be closed with a rise in July.
WORKER 5, OFFICER IN 3-STAR HOTEL
Memur-Sen officials said that the workers made the collective agreement with the public employers’ union TÜHİS, and the officials with the ministers who keep the budget ahead, so there are deep gaps in price hikes.
Memur-Sen officials, who affirmed that the State pays the salaries of the workers when they go abroad in the Energy SEEs and that the official pays them, said: “Let’s say that the driver and the engineer went on a mission.
The driver stays in a 5-star hotel and the state pays the bill. If the engineer can find a cheap 3-star hotel, he stays there and pays for it himself. Does the driver engineer count? When the worker retires, he receives 2-3 times the bonus of the official and his pension is higher.
