Toyota recalled more than 580,000 vehicles
Toyota Motor recalled more than 580,000 vehicles due to parking brake installation errors and water leaks from the windshield.
According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Toyota has filed a recall notice with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
The notification covers more than 580 thousand vehicles of the “Sienta” and “Japan Taxi” models manufactured between May 2015 and March 2023.
BRAKE AND WINDSHIELD ERROR
It was claimed that on the models in question, the screws were not securely attached to the handbrake pedal and this could cause the screws to become loose and fall out.
It was stated that malfunction carries risks, including preventing the parking brake from engaging correctly and the brake remaining active at all times.
Another reported malfunction is that the windshield slats can leak rainwater, and cables that get wet can cause the electric sliding doors to open.
Toyota stated that the recalled vehicles will be inspected for free at dealerships nationwide and parts will be replaced if necessary. (AA)
