The French government imposes restrictions on social networks
In France, members of the government were instructed not to use the Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal applications.
According to Le Figaro, the circular issued by the Prime Minister’s Office asked government representatives to remove messaging apps such as Telegram, WhatsApp and Signal from their phones.
The circular, which aims to “reinforce the security” of meetings containing confidential information, states that members of the government should install the local messaging application Olvid no later than December 8.
The circular stated that the Olvid app was “the only app that received a level one security certificate” from the National Information Systems Security Agency (ANSSI).
The software company Olvid was founded in 2019 by two French cybersecurity experts. (AA)
