The German president waited like this at the door of the plane because the Qataris did not greet him
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was waiting at the door of the Airbus A350 plane for about 30 minutes after landing in Qatar.
A red carpet was laid out at the airport to welcome the German leader and a military honor guard was present to greet him, but no official representative of the host country was seen on site.
The German ambassador to Qatar, Lothar Freischlader, was also present, while Steinmeier waited with his arms crossed at the door of the government plane.
Finally, a representative from Qatar arrived: the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
Steinmeier then set out to meet with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
THE PLANE LANDED EARLIER THAN EXPECTED
Qatar is the last stop on Steinmeier’s tour of three Middle Eastern countries, after visiting Israel and Oman.
Qatar has become a key mediator in the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel.
Although there was no explanation of the reason for this unusual diplomatic incident, it was learned that the plane landed earlier than planned in the official program.
