Coup plan in Germany… Raid against imperial citizens
It was reported that as part of the investigation against members of the “Imperial Citizens” (Reichsbürger) who allegedly planned a coup in Germany, 280 locations were raided.
According to the Munich public prosecutor’s office and the police, evidence was collected against people linked to this organization during searches carried out in simultaneous raids in 8 federal states.
In the raids carried out by order of the Munich prosecutor’s office, the suspects were searched in 280 locations in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Hamburg and Lower Saxony.
The defendants, who are being investigated for allegedly plotting a coup, are suspected of forming a criminal organization.
The defendants, who were captured during the operation in December 2022 and are still detained, are expected to be tried on charges of “being a member of a terrorist organization” or “supporting a terrorist organization.”
According to the national intelligence report, the number of people who consider themselves “citizens of the German Empire (Reichsbürger)” is around 23,000. The group, whose 2,100 members are willing to use violence, does not recognize Germany as a legitimate state.
Some of the members are committed to the idea of a German Empire under a monarchy, while others are pro-Nazi. Some members believe that Germany is still under military occupation. (AA)
