Hamas: ceasefire with Israel to be announced later
Hamas announced that Qatar will announce the long-awaited ceasefire agreement with Israel.
Izzat al-Rishk, a member of Hamas’s Political Bureau, made a statement to Al Jazeera television about the long-awaited ceasefire agreement with Israel. Rishk said: “Now it’s Qatar’s turn. They will announce the long-awaited ceasefire agreement with Israel. “Details of the agreement will be announced later,” he said.
Rishk stated that, according to the agreement, there was talk of a ceasefire in exchange for the arrival of aid and the release of women and children from both sides.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh had said they were “close to reaching” a ceasefire agreement with Israel and had passed on their responses to Qatar, which was mediating on the issue.
According to the Gaza government, 13,300 people, including 5,600 children and 3,550 women, have been killed in the Gaza Strip in Israeli attacks since October 7. Since October 7, 217 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
