White House denial to the Israeli press
Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator for the White House National Security Council, responded to reporters’ questions at the daily press briefing.
Kirby defended Israel regarding the Haaretz newspaper’s claim about the deaths at the Nova Music Festival on October 7.
Kirby claimed that the newspaper’s report claiming that many people died as a result of Israeli fire at the festival was “not true.”
John Kirby, who did not provide any evidence, said: “It’s obviously not true. There was a massive paragliding landing at a music festival. “So Israel has no contribution to this,” he said.
ALLEGATIONS IN THE HAARETZ NEWS
The Haaretz newspaper provided information on the security assessment carried out by Israeli security officials in relation to the attack carried out by Hamas from Gaza on October 7.
In the assessment of senior Israeli security officials, based on interrogation records of Hamas members and the police investigation into the incident, it was stated that Hamas had no prior knowledge about the music festival held near the Gaza Strip.
According to the news, the police investigation found that most of the festival-goers managed to escape because it was decided to stop the party half an hour before the first gunshot was heard.
Haaretz News claimed that the investigation also revealed that an Israeli gunship fired at civilians while opening fire on Hamas members, and included the following statements:
“According to a police source, the investigation also shows that an Israeli army combat helicopter arrived at the scene and apparently opened fire on the terrorists there, also shooting some festival goers. According to the police, 364 people died at the festival.” (AA)
