‘A call to the world of first ladies’

First Lady Erdoğan read the text of the joint call prepared within the framework of the summit at the post-summit press conference with the theme “A Heart for Palestine”, held at the Presidential Labor Office in Dolmabahçe, with the participation of the spouses of the Heads of State and Government and special representatives of many countries.

Erdoğan thanked all the wives of the leaders and representatives who attended the summit and opposed this cruelty against the conscience of humanity, and hoped that this historic meeting would be a means to establish peace and tranquility in Palestine and the region. .

First Lady Erdoğan stated that as a result of the summit, today in Istanbul they made a common call to the whole world and said: “We, as spouses of Heads of State and Government of different countries of the world and representatives of the countries, want draw the attention of the international community to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and especially to children and women.” “We meet in Istanbul on November 15, 2023 to end the tragedy experienced by civilians, including the sick and disabled, to establish a just and lasting peace, and to ensure that the international community takes action against these attacks that can be considered crimes against humanity.” he said.

Erdoğan expressed his deep concern about the humanitarian tragedy in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza and East Jerusalem, due to the conflicts that have occurred in Gaza since October 7 and continued:

“We point out that the humanitarian crisis caused by the blockade and embargo imposed on Gaza, which is incompatible with international law, prevents civilians from accessing basic needs and has become a complete violation of human rights. We emphasize that the murder of more than 11 thousand civilians, mostly children and women, in the tragedy that occurred in Gaza since October 7 constitutes one of the most serious violations of international law. “We point out the need to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of pregnant women, children, babies and patients who are in inhumane conditions and face the threat of a massacre.”

Wishing for a two-state solution where Palestinians and Israelis can raise their children in peace and security, First Lady Erdoğan said:

* In this context, we, as spouses of Heads of State and Government and representatives of countries, call on the entire world to take immediate and total measures to stop the ongoing massacres in Gaza, including schools, hospitals and other medical facilities , refugee camps, United Nations facilities and places of worship in Gaza. The immediate cessation of Israeli attacks on all civilian settlements, the immediate establishment of a ceasefire ending hostilities and the provision of adequate, safe and unhindered humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza. Gaza, emphasizing the serious impact of displacement under current conflict conditions, especially on women, children and the elderly. We call for the unequivocal rejection of any attempt to forcibly relocate the Palestinian civilian population and for all parties to immediately and fully comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
