‘Turkish bribery’ scandal grows in the US
There have been new developments in the US bribery scandal, in which Turkey is at the center.
An investigation has been launched into the election campaign of New York Mayor Eric Adams, accused of receiving illegal donations from Turkish companies and government institutions.
The New York Times reported that the FBI searched the home of Brianna Suggs, donations manager for Eric Adams’ election campaign, and that Suggs was questioned within the scope of the public corruption investigation.
ALLEGATION OF ‘PROVIDING BENEFIT TO TURKISH OFFICIALS’
According to the news, an investigation is underway into whether Mayor Adams cooperated with the Turkish government during the 2021 election campaign. The indictment claims that Adams’ campaign may have benefited Turkish officials in exchange for money.
As part of the investigation, New York Mayor Adams’ personal phones and tablets were recently seized. It was noted that no charges have yet been filed against Adams, who cooperated with the investigation and denied the allegations.
