‘Cyclone Tej’ claimed lives: Thousands of people were displaced
According to Yemen’s official SABA agency, the governor of Al-Mehra, Muhammad Ali Yasir, presented a report on the hurricane to the president of the Yemeni Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi.
According to the report, 2 people were killed and 150 injured in the city, where serious damage was caused to public and private infrastructure and property. Approximately 10,000 people were displaced in the Al-Gayda and Hasvin districts, the most affected in the city.
FOOD AID WAS DISTRIBUTED
In addition to the distribution of food to 7,000 people in Al Gayda and Hasvin districts, the distribution of food packages and the necessary materials for housing began.
In the statement made by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on the social media platform X, it is stated that 300 houses were destroyed and 314 houses damaged due to the hurricane in the city of Socotra. (AA)
