WHO reacts to Israel’s request to evacuate Jerusalem Hospital
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in his post on the social media platform X that they received disturbing news about the evacuation of the Jerusalem Hospital.
Ghebreyesus said: “As the WHO has repeatedly emphasized, it is not possible for these overcrowded hospitals to evacuate patients safely. Hospitals must be allowed to perform their life-saving functions. It is necessary to protect hospitals.” he said.

– Israel demanded the immediate evacuation of the Jerusalem Hospital
Israel reportedly wanted the Jerusalem Hospital, located in southern blockaded Gaza, to be evacuated immediately “in preparation for the bombing.”
The Palestinian Red Crescent’s written statement stated that “a threat was received from the Israeli occupation forces that the Jerusalem Hospital, located in southern Gaza, would be bombed.”
The statement states that “the Israeli army requested the urgent evacuation of the Jerusalem Hospital, where more than 400 patients and 12 thousand people took refuge.”
While the management and medical staff of the Jerusalem Hospital, which Israel wanted to evacuate immediately, refused to evacuate the hospital, the Hamas-affiliated government warned of a second hospital massacre.
Selame Maruf, head of the press office of the Hamas-affiliated government, told the AA correspondent that the management and medical staff of the Jerusalem Hospital did not accept the evacuation of the hospital due to the difficulty of transporting the sick and wounded. (AA)
