Scholz warned in Israel: it would be an unforgivable mistake
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a joint press conference with his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to Israel.
Scholz stated that the German government and parliament are on Israel’s side: “It is very important for me to emphasize this in Israel. “German history and the history of the Holocaust impose a responsibility on us to support Israel’s security,” he said.
“WE Focus on the Hostages”
Scholz stated that Hamas also has German hostages in its hands: “We are focused on these people and all the other hostages and will do everything possible to free them.”
“WE MUST PREVENT IT FROM SPREADING TO THE REGION”
The German Chancellor stated that they are concerned that the conflict will spread to the region and said: “We must prevent this conflict from spreading to the entire region. Every actor (in the region) should remember that getting involved in this conflict is not a good idea. “This would be an unforgivable mistake,” she said.
MESSAGE FROM GAZA: WE ARE AWARE
Referring to the situation in Gaza in his speech, Scholz said: “We are aware that people are suffering in Gaza. That’s why I said we need to provide cash aid to innocent civilians. “We are also concerned about the civilian population and we want to avoid civilian casualties,” he said.
Scholz stated that he would also visit Egypt to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza.
In his speech, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked Scholz and Germany for their support for Israel and invited the entire world to condemn the actions of Hamas. (AA)
