Human tragedy on the border: Waiting between life and death

In Gaza, where Israel has been bombing for days, thousands of Palestinians gathered at the Rafah Gate on the border with Egypt, considered the only safe exit in the region, to survive.

Israel, which imposed a complete blockade on Gaza and was preparing for a ground operation, gave the Palestinians time to head to southern Gaza, sparking reactions.

As the loss of life in Israeli attacks increases rapidly, Palestinian families trying to save their lives wait for the Egyptian border to open.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri said thousands of tons of humanitarian aid sent to Gaza were waiting at the Rafah border gate, but Israel did not facilitate passage to the Gaza side.

Saying that Israel rejects international cooperation efforts, Shukri noted that people with dual passports are prevented from passing into Egypt.

Israel had previously announced that it would control the passage from Gaza, where more than 2 million people live, to Egypt.

The Egyptian authorities’ statement that an agreement had been reached for a temporary ceasefire in southern Gaza was also rejected by the Israeli government and Hamas.
