Israel prepares to evacuate thousands of civilians
According to the Israeli newspaper Globes, based on the National Emergency Administration (NEMA) affiliated with the Israeli Ministry of Defense, civilians living in Israel’s northern border regions will be placed in schools across the country in case of a possible conflict with Lebanon.
The president of NEMA, Yoram Laredo, stated that the number of people who need to be evacuated “operationally” in the possible conflict with Lebanon is at least 70 thousand.
Laredo shared the information that Israel has a total capacity of 60 thousand hotel rooms and since only 40 thousand of them are outside the designated risk zone, those who live near the border can be placed in schools.
EVACUATIONS CONTINUE IN ISRAEL
NEMA reported that, within the framework of the evacuation operation carried out with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), approximately 13 thousand people from settlements located between 0 and 4 kilometers from the blockaded Gaza Strip were housed in 31 hotels in recent years. 24 hours.
