Declaration as a confession of Israel: the state administration has failed
Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party, stated at the press conference that he “took responsibility for what happened and what will happen” in the attack carried out from the Gaza Strip.
Smotrich, known for his racist rhetoric and actions against Palestinians throughout his political career, said:
“We must admit this honestly; The state administration and security system failed with their heads down. “We have failed to protect our citizens.”
Smotrich stated that the goal of Israel’s war against the Gaza Strip is “to destroy Hamas and other armed groups there, and it will not settle for anything less than that.”
The far-right minister stated that he would reassess the Oslo Accords signed by Israel with the Palestinian administration and his country’s withdrawal from illegal Jewish settlements in Gaza in 2005, stating that “all of these developments led to these disastrous events.”
ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT
Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood.”
A total of 1,300 Israelis, including 279 soldiers, were reported killed and 3,436 Israelis wounded in the attacks carried out from Gaza.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that 2,670 people were killed and 9,600 injured in Gaza in Israel’s attacks.
It was claimed that 56 Palestinians were killed and approximately 619 people were injured in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.
In Israel’s attacks, nine journalists in Gaza and 1 journalist in Lebanon lost their lives. (AA)
