Israel: We have gained control around Gaza

The Israeli military said it has maintained control over Jewish settlements around the blockaded Gaza Strip, but there may still be Palestinian armed elements in the region.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said control of Israeli settlements around the Gaza Strip was achieved, there was no conflict, but there may still be Palestinian armed elements in the region. Stating that the Israeli army will protect the Gaza border with tanks, helicopters and military aircraft against possible infiltration attempts, Hagari stated that the conflict between Israeli forces and the armed Palestinian people is currently “limited.”

Hagari stated that 15 of the 24 towns around the Gaza Strip were evacuated, and that the evacuation will continue throughout the day, but Sderot, the largest city in the region, will not be evacuated. Noting that 4,400 rockets have been fired from Gaza towards Israel since October 7, Hagari stated that 300,000 Israeli army reserve soldiers joined the mobilization within 48 hours.

IRAN: WE HAVE NO ROLE IN THE ATTACKS

Meanwhile, Iran reacted to the claim that they were behind the attack on Israel.

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Ali Karimi Makam, said that the accusation that Iran participated in the Hamas attack on Israel does not reflect the truth. Makam said: “Although we do not play any role in Palestine’s response, we share common feelings with the Palestinians and support them.”

The Iranian official described Hamas’ action as “self-defense.”

In yesterday’s Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report, it was claimed that Iranian security officials have been assisting Hamas in attacks against Israel in recent weeks. The news item in question stated that members of the Revolutionary Guard Army gave Hamas the green light for the attack in Beirut last week. (AA)
