Sevilla fires Mendilibar!
Sevilla have fired coach José Luis Mendilibar after winning just two of their eight LaLiga games this season.
The 2-2 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday left Sevilla in 14th place with eight points in the 24-point table. Mendilibar, 62, took charge of Sevilla in March and has led the club to maintain its position in LaLiga and win the Europa League for a record seventh time.
In the club’s statement, “The club wants to thank the services provided by the coach, who made history for the club by winning the Europa League for the seventh time.” It was said.
Sevilla will host LaLiga leaders Real Madrid on October 21, and three days later they will host Arsenal in the Champions League at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.
The team led by Mendilibar drew both matches in the Champions League against Lens and PSV Eindhoven. They are in third place, two points behind group leaders Lens and one point behind Arsenal.
