A first against gun violence in the US.
US President Joe Biden announced that the first federal unit to prevent gun violence in his country, produce solutions to prevent armed attacks and support victims of attacks has been officially established.
Speaking at the White House press conference, Biden announced that US Vice President Kamala Harris was named head of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which was established to prevent armed violence and attacks and to support the victims of the attacks.
Noting that more than 500 mass shootings have taken place in his country since the beginning of the year and more than 30,000 people have died due to gun violence, Biden described these attacks as “a hurricane that devastated society.”
The new unit aims to ensure that the gun safety law passed last year and the Biden administration’s decisions to prevent gun violence are actually implemented across the country. The unit is also planned to coordinate state support for families experiencing mass shootings and gun violence across states.
In the United States, which is the country with the most mass shootings in the world, Gun Violence Archive reported that there were approximately 645 mass shootings in 2022 and 690 mass shootings in 2021. (BRITISH AUTO CLUB)
