UK temperature record to be broken this week

According to the statement from the British Meteorological Office (Met Office), from today until Saturday temperatures are expected to reach 32-33 degrees, especially in the south of the country and in London.

The Met Office, which predicts similar temperatures to hit again after the 32 degrees last measured in June, issued a “red alert” warning.

The Meteorological Office pointed out that the night temperature will exceed 20 degrees and noted that the night temperature record will be broken with 21.7 degrees tonight and tomorrow.

Noting that the probability of experiencing a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius for 2 days or more in a row will increase due to climate change, the Met Office also shared the information that the probability of experiencing temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius for more than 2 days in a year in 2070 it will increase 16 times.

“RED SANITARY ALARM” WARNING

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued a “Red Health Alert” for older people and patients, with the possibility of health problems such as heat stroke due to the hot weather.

UKHSA urged all citizens to consume water, keep an eye on the elderly and their relatives and stay at home as much as possible.

The Met Office also noted that thunderstorms are expected in the west of the country on Sunday and Monday, and small rainfall is expected in some areas on Friday and Saturday.

Met Office chief meteorologist Paul Gundersen said: “High pressure will lead to warmer weather at this time of year, especially in the southern regions. While the hottest heat of the year is expected in England and Wales, we may see above-normal seasonal temperatures in Northern Ireland and Scotland.” saying.

Justine Shotton, vice president of the British Veterinary Association, pointed out that the September heat is dangerous for animals, saying that pets in particular are susceptible to heat stroke, sunburn, shortness of breath and heart ailments due to illnesses related to the heat. (AA)
