They raided and arrested the house of the former prime minister
Vahide Trabelsi, wife of former prime minister Hammadi al-Jibali, said her husband was detained by police in the morning.
“DO NOT SHOW THE REASON”
Trabelsi stated that the arrest was carried out by security forces in civilian clothes: “The security forces raided our house around 8 in the morning and detained Hemmadi al-Jibali without giving any reason. The security forces said that Cibali will be interrogated at the National Guard headquarters in Lavina.
“THE STATE OF HEALTH IS NOT GOOD”
Noting that her husband had recently undergone open-heart surgery, Trabelsi said Cibali’s health was not good.
Cibali, a member of the Ennahda Movement, was the prime minister of Tunisia from December 2011 to February 2013.
THE CHARGE OF “Possession of DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES” WAS ALSO DETAILED
Cibali, arrested along with his wife accused of “possession of dangerous substances” by the Ministry of the Interior in May 2022, was released the same day after reactions from human rights organizations.
ARRESTS IN TUNISIA
A group of names are in operation in Tunisia since February 11.
Finally, on September 3, Abdulkerim al-Haruni, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Ennahda Movement, was placed under house arrest.
Regarding the arrests, President Kays Said stated that the arrests were carried out due to a “conspiracy against state security” and “measures aimed at fueling the economic crisis.”
The opposition, for its part, describes the investigation as political and accuses Said of acting against democracy. (AA)
