The oligarch who supported Zelensky was arrested
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced that the Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky was detained on charges of fraud.
In the SBU statement, “It has been determined that Ihor Kolomoisky transferred more than 500 million Ukrainian hryvnias ($13.5 million) abroad between 2013 and 2020 using the infrastructure of banking institutions. The preliminary investigation carried out under the supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office continues.
HE SUPPORTED THE ZELENSKEY ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Western media shared details that Kolomoisky was one of those who supported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in his 2019 election campaign.
On the other hand, the US Treasury Department announced the decision to sanction Kolomoisky on March 5, 2021.
It was claimed that the decision was made because Kolomoisky was involved in corruption when he was governor of Dnipropetrovsk in 2014.
