Crashed Russian space shuttle damaged the Moon
The destruction caused by Russia’s failed lunar trip to the Moon has been revealed. Russia sent the space shuttle Luna-25 to the Moon 47 years later, but the space shuttle went out of control on August 19 and crashed into the Moon.
In the images shared by the American National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) the destruction caused by the fall of Luna-25 on the Moon was revealed. In images taken by NASA’s LRO vehicle, a 10-meter-wide crater is seen to have formed after the space shuttle crashed.
NASA blamed Russia for the images it shared.
“A new crater has been detected,” NASA said in a statement. It appears to be 10 meters wide in diameter. “This is believed to be the cause, as the new crater is close to the Luna-25 crash site.”
Russia, which was fighting the United States in space competition during the Cold War period, was the first country to send a shuttle to Earth’s satellite. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin also became the first human to travel to space in 1961.
