The EU Commission is ready to make any proposal to get this far (enlargement). You will see this in October. You will see them when we come up with serious proposals, including a plan for growth. In 2007, the number of EU members increased to 27 with the accession of Bulgaria and Romania. With the accession of Croatia in 2013, the number of EU members reached 28. With the departure of the United Kingdom in 2020, the number dropped to 27.

Currently, the candidate countries for the EU are Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia from the Western Balkans, as well as Turkey since 1999 and Ukraine and Moldova since 2022. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Kosovo are potential candidate countries. (AA)
