Romelu Lukaku in Rome
Roma, one of the teams in the Italian First Soccer League (Serie A), has signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku on loan.
“Roma are pleased to announce that Romelu Lukaku has been transferred from Chelsea on a temporary basis until June 30, 2024,” the yellow-red club said in a statement.
Lukaku, whose views were included in the statement, stated that he was looking forward to playing for Roma, saying: “I was touched by the interest shown by the club and the fans. This situation encourages me to give everything for my new team. I saw the atmosphere of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome as a competitor, I felt the warmth of the Romans and it is good to know that today I am part of it”.
CHAMPIONSHIP AT INTER
Lukaku, one of the world’s leading forwards, has 280 goals and 93 assists in 589 career games. Lukaku played for Inter in two separate spells in Italy.
While Romelu Lukaku enjoyed the Serie A championship in the 2020-2021 season, the first period he wore the blue-black jersey, he won 1 Italian Cup, 1 Italian Super Cup with Inter in the 2022-2023 season, his second period, and also played in the UEFA Champions League final.
The 30-year-old striker’s name was mentioned at both Juventus and Inter, where he played last season, during the transfer period. (AA)
