North Korea targets US and South Korea with simulated nuclear attack
North Korea, which has attracted attention with its successive missile tests of late, attempted a possible nuclear attack against South Korea by simulation.
The North Korean administration, claiming that the latest joint US-South Korean exercise threatened it openly, tested how it would attack South Korea with nuclear weapons in a possible war. Short-range missiles have also been tested, the Korean People’s Army said in a statement.
South Korea also announced that Pyongyang launched two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea yesterday.
The Seoul administration held an emergency meeting on the growing tension in the region. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said North Korea’s latest attempts threaten peace in the region and can no longer be tolerated.
