US visit draws attention from Egyptian President Sisi
According to a written statement by the Egyptian presidency, Egyptian President Sisi met with a high-level delegation of Democrats and Republicans at the US Congress in the capital Cairo.
The Egyptian president and members of the United States Congress discussed regional and international developments, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Officials from the two countries discussed numerous issues, including the Russia-Ukraine crisis and its economic repercussions, the crises in Sudan, Libya, Syria, and developments on the Palestinian issue.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on the importance of accelerating political solutions for states in crisis in a way that protects the unity of states, their territorial integrity and their peoples.
During the meeting, President Sisi said that “international efforts should be increased to reach a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with relevant international resolutions.”
The statement did not provide information on how long the US delegation’s visit to Cairo would last.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri was also present at the meeting with the delegation, which also included the Chairman of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez, and United States Senate Member United, Lindsey Graham. (AA)
