The death toll from legionella bacteria in the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszow has risen to three.

Hours before, an elderly patient also died, who was hospitalized in the allergy service of the same hospital and whose condition was serious.
A person who was being treated for cancer and who had low immunity according to health officials was reported to have died on August 22.
According to the authorities’ statement, the number of people hospitalized in the country due to legionella bacteria increased to 71.
Local health departments launched an investigation to find the source of the bacteria, and water samples were taken from the homes of infected people.
Beginning with flu-like symptoms and progressing to pneumonia, Legionnaires’ disease can lead to illnesses such as respiratory and multi-organ failure and can lead to death if left untreated.
Legionella bacteria, which is usually found in artificial water systems, is mostly seen in buildings where less disinfection is done so as not to reduce efficiency, and in buildings used by many people, such as hotels, dormitories, and hospitals. (AA)
