DOWNLOADS MAY INCREASE
It is considered that the number of people to be evacuated from the region may increase.
As the fire caused extensive damage to a canal that carries water to towns in the north of the island, water cuts were experienced in some areas and people were urged to “use water sparingly.”
Forest Service Director Pedro Martinez said the fire was “far from extinguished” but firefighters were doing everything they could to prevent loss of life and damage.
The president of the Autonomous Administration of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, said in statements to the press: “Obviously, the weather conditions were very severe last night. The wind, temperatures and conditions were much worse than we had anticipated, causing the fire to spread north.” saying.
It was shared that more than 200 people and 13 planes and helicopters were involved in the firefighting efforts. (AA)
