Murderous nurse accused of killing seven babies found guilty

Nurse Lucy Letby is expected to be convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill ten at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.

The 33-year-old newborn nurse, who is expected to spend the rest of her life in prison, caused the death of newborn babies by injecting air or insulin into their bloodstreams or feeding tubes.

In the final hearing, the families of the victims said that their conviction would not take away the “pain, pain, anger and anguish” they had suffered.

Letby also offered to wash, dress, and photograph his victims as they turned up “alive and excited” after each of their murders. While his motive remains unclear, the prosecution suggested that he was “excited” to “play God.” They also claimed that he was trying to impress a married doctor.

DOES NOT FEEL GUILT

At the hearing at Manchester Crown Court, the notes were said to have been found after a search of his house and presented to the jury.

In one of these notes, the nurse suspected of murder writes: “I was mean and I killed them on purpose because I wasn’t good enough.”

In other notes, it is written that the nurse did not feel guilty for her crimes, that the police had no evidence and did not believe that she had done anything wrong.

At the earlier hearing, it was also claimed that one of the children Lucy Letby was caring for rapidly improved after being transferred to another hospital after his condition worsened.

Police are now examining the care of all babies admitted to the neonatal units at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where Letby also completed two training periods in 2012 and 2015. The nurse’s ruling, that it was determined that he killed seven children, has not yet been confirmed.
