Sandstorm Alert: Government Agencies Evacuated

In many cities of Sistan-Baluchestan province, located in southeastern Iran, state institutions were suspended for another day due to the sandstorm.

Speaking to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Sistan-Balochistan Meteorology Director General Muhsin Haydari said sand and dust storms continue in the region.

Haydari said: “Today, the wind speed reached 108 kilometers per hour in the city of Zabul. Due to the increased amount of dust in the air, visibility decreased to 600 meters in Zabul and 700 meters in Zehek.” saying. The Iranian official claimed that due to adverse weather conditions, all state institutions in the cities of Zabul, Hamun, Zehek, Hirmend and Nimruz in the north of the province were vacationed for one more day.

Stating that citizens, especially respiratory patients, should not go out unless it is mandatory, Haydari advised those who have to go out to wear masks.

Due to the sand and dust storm, state institutions and banks were closed yesterday in the cities of Zabul, Zehek, Hamun, Hirmend and Nimruz. (AA)
