Jordan: We shot down a drone loaded with drugs from Syria
A written statement on the matter was made on the official website of the Jordanian Army. In the statement, it was indicated that a Syrian unmanned aerial vehicle carrying some drugs was detected today in one of the fronts of the northern military region.
It was reported that said drone was shot down, some methamphetamine was seized and turned over to official authorities.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Jordanian army announced in June that it had shot down three UAVs, one of which was loaded with weapons, trying to cross from Syria into Jordan.
On July 24, the army announced that it had shot down a drug-laden UAV, which was determined to have come from southern Syria.
Syria and Jordan held a security meeting on July 23 to combat drug trafficking on the border.
Jordanian Chief of Staff General Yusuf al-Huneyti and Intelligence Chief Major General Ahmed Husni, Syrian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ali Mahmoud Abbas and Intelligence Chief Major General Husam Luka they attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the dangerousness of drugs, production and smuggling resources, and cooperation in the fight with the parties that organize and manage smuggling operations and carry out the illegal entry of drugs into Jordan across the border. (AA)
