Irregular migrants left a boat that ran aground
In the news of the Moroccan official agency MAP, it was reported that the forces of the coast guard determined the location of the ship in question, which ran aground yesterday.
It was reported that 130 irregular migrants from Senegal who were on the ship were rescued and these migrants were handed over to the authorities for legal proceedings.
The news stated that the vessel in question was leaving the city of Thies in Senegal bound for the Canary Islands under Spanish control.
In a June statement, the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior announced that 25,519 irregular migration attempts were prevented and 3,150 irregular migrants rescued in the first five months of the year.
Due to its geographical location close to the European coasts, Morocco is among the regions that irregular immigrants use as a busy transit point. (AA)
