Trump could be tried in early 2024

The office of the prosecutor Jack Smith, who has been designated as a special expert in the investigations related to Donald Trump, requested that the trial begin on January 2, 2024, in the document sent to the court in Washington DC, in the case of the alleged change of the results of the 2020 presidential elections in his favor, against which the former president was accused of 4 counts.

The document included information that it was estimated that the prosecutors against Trump would take no more than 4 to 6 weeks to present their arguments and evidence to the jury.

Prosecutors argued that the timetable they proposed for the case would give Trump time to defend himself and prepare the parties and the court for the pre-trial process.

Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is presiding over the case, is expected to announce her decision on when the trial will start on August 28.

THE accusations against TRUMP

Former US President Trump appeared in court on August 3 in Washington, DC, on charges brought against him for an alleged attempt to rig the results of the 2020 presidential election in his favor.

Denying the charges of “conspiracy to deceive the United States,” “conspiracy to obstruct official process,” “obstructing and attempting to obstruct official process,” “conspiring to prevent voters from exercising their constitutional rights,” Trump said his The accusation was “interference in the elections” and says that it is a “witch hunt”.

Trump appeared in court on June 13 in Miami and dismissed 37 charges after leaving office for carrying classified documents and obstructing federal investigations. Three additional charges were brought against Trump, including the allegation that on July 27 he ordered his aides and employees to delete security camera footage of classified documents from his Mar-a-Lago mansion.

Previously, Trump appeared before a judge in New York on April 4, over allegations that he paid a “shock” to a woman during the 2016 presidential election.

The fourth indictment on the alleged attempt to interfere with the results of the 2020 election in the state of Georgia against Trump is expected to be announced later this month. (AA)
