Aliyev: Armenia must take one last step

Referring to his country’s relations with Russia, Aliyev said: “Looking at the volume of work done by both countries, it is seen that both sides are focused on strengthening cooperation and cooperation towards certain results. Aliyev stated that regional development in the South Caucasus is related to the improvement of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, adding: “At the moment, various international organizations are trying to help us find a mutually acceptable solution. Fortunately, all international organizations now understand that the solution must be based on international law. Almost three years have passed since the Second Karabakh War. We are hearing more and more direct statements that Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan. If such statements had been made during the occupation, there probably would have been no war.” he performed the assessment of it.
Emphasizing that he feels great pride every time he visits Karabakh and East Zangezur, Aliyev said, “We will bring more than 150,000 people back to the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions in the next three years. In the Karabakh region alone, 140,000 people are expected to return by 2026, he said.
“ARMENIA MUST TAKE ONE LAST STEP”
Aliyev pointed out that the US, Russia and the European Union are trying to help the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and that Azerbaijan sincerely participates in this process and shows a result-oriented approach.
Aliyev said that the negotiations have not brought any results yet and continued his speech as follows:
“I think that Armenia should take one last step. After the war they already took a series of steps and I cannot say that these steps were taken voluntarily. There have been many important events in the last 2.5 years. These facts demonstrated that if they do not recognize our territorial integrity, we will not recognize their territorial integrity. It is very clear what this means for them. They have already accepted that Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan, they have openly declared it and now they are at the stage of signing the agreement. This is the last point. If Armenia gives up its territorial claims against Azerbaijan, the peace deal may be signed by the end of the year. But without this, there will be no peace. This will not be a good scenario for the region.”
“WE WILL FEEL THE DANGER OF THE MINES FOR LONG YEARS”
Referring to the problems caused by the mines laid by Armenia during the occupation period, Aliyev said: “More than 300 of our people fell victim to these mines. There are more than a million mines in the area. They work day and night to clear the mines. It is a long process. Unfortunately, there will be victims in the future. We will feel the danger of the mines for many years.” They shared their comments.
Speaking about the reconstruction and restoration works in the liberated areas, Aliyev said: “The money spent for the reconstruction and restoration of Karabakh and East Zangezur will reach 7 billion dollars by the end of the year. In the first phase, we plan to restore 8 cities and 100 villages.” saying.
Regarding the situation of the Armenian population in Karabakh, Aliyev said: “The so-called leaders of the Armenians in Karabakh are holding the people hostage. The integration of the Karabakh Armenians will be possible when they are released from the junta that is holding them hostage. The rights of the Armenians will be protected by our constitution. Azerbaijan is a multicultural country. This is our wealth. All ethnic groups have the same rights. No group should be superior to the other. he performed the assessment of it. (AA)
