Death toll tops 400 in hunger cult investigation
In Kenya, the number of bodies found within the scope of the “hunger cult” investigation has reportedly risen to 403.
District Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha, in a press release at the Kilifi district hospital, stated that they found new bodies during the burial search.
Onyancha shared the information that the number of bodies detected increased to 403.
While 95 people were rescued from the cult in the operations, 37 people, including the wife of the cult leader, Joyce Mwikamba, were arrested in connection with the mass deaths.
About Good News International Church pastor Paul Mackenzie told his church people he was hungry and left the Prophet. An investigation was launched into the accusation that he caused the deaths of many people by promising them that they would meet Jesus.
The cult leader, Mackenzie, told the police at the beginning of the investigation that they would arrive at the corpses of 1000 people. (AA)
