Fine of 152.8 million TL from the Ministry of Commerce for unfair pricing practices
The Ministry of Commerce announced that the Unfair Price Assessment Board imposed an administrative fine of TL 152,820,477.5 on 369 companies in the first six months of 2023.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the Unfair Price Evaluation Board, which was established to prevent actions that break the supply-demand balance in the market, exorbitant price increases and hoarding practices, sanctioned 369 companies with a total of 152 million 820 thousand lire in the first 6 months of the year.

In this context, the inspection of price tags is carried out by our Ministry within the framework of the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the Price Label Regulations.
In the first six months of 2023, a total of 6,673 companies and 31,129 products, mainly market inspection, were audited in the field of unfair price inspections in 81 provinces by our Provincial Directorates of Commerce.
Besides; 06.05.2023 With the modification of the Second-Hand Motor Vehicle Trade Regulation, 648 dealers have been inspected by the Provincial Directorates as of 09.06.22023, within the framework of the growing complaints related to the automotive sector in the last period .

An administrative fine of TL 84,975,532.00 was imposed on 353 companies found to have increased exorbitant prices on e-commerce markets for urgently needed materials after the earthquake in 10 Kahramanmaraş provinces on 6 February. February 2023.
As a result of the inspections carried out by the Inspectors of the Ministry and the Provincial Directorates, 13 car dealers, who were found to be stockpiling, were fined TL 66,879,000.00 in total, including the upper limit of fines of 2023 for 15 violations.
As a consequence of the inspections carried out by the Provincial Directorates for exorbitant price increases in the markets, especially in food and basic necessities, a total of 965,945.5 Turkish liras was administratively charged, considering that exorbitant prices increased in 3 markets , 74,303.5 Turkish liras. Turkish lira for medium markets and 891,642 Turkish lira for two large markets.
In this context, as a result of the inspections carried out by the Inspectors and Provincial Directorates of our Ministry, the Unfair Prices Evaluation Board imposed an administrative fine of TL 152,820,477.5 on 369 companies in the first six months of 2023.
Within the framework of the inspections carried out in the first six months of 2023 by the Provincial Directorates of Commerce and Municipalities of our Ministry, within the framework of article 54 of Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection, called “Price Label” and the provisions of the Price Labeling Regulation; A total administrative fine of TL 14,991,883 was imposed for 15,894 products, of which 584,953 products were found to be infringing at 25,409 workplaces.
